OUR HISTORY
HBT started in 1997. The group started with just 13 member stores and has since grown significantly. HBT has now grown to include over 1000 independently owned and operated retail and trade stores across Australia in every state and territory. These stores specialise in hardware, building supplies, industrial products, paint, rural goods, garden items, and timber.
Since inception HBT has played a pivotal role in supporting independent retailers, enabling them to compete effectively in the market by leveraging collective buying power. Over time HBT has expanded its partnerships to over 500 national and local suppliers, offering a wide range of products to its members.

AN OUTSTANDING TEAM
HBT’s strong internal team and even stronger membership has fostered record growth, with HBT surpassing 1000 member stores. Independent businesses and collaborative partnerships have positioned HBT as a powerful force, ensuring members receive the support they need to compete effectively. With a focus on low-cost operations and meaningful initiatives, Benstead and his team continue to drive success while maintaining a strong, community-driven approach.
